Some of you out there know that I have been going through the process of being picked for the cooking competition "MasterChef". We drove down to Boston for my food audition on November 14th. I can't go into what happened that day but my food passed the taste test (this was the scariest part for me) and interview process went extremely well. I found out two days ago that although I was very close to making the final cut . . . . . It just did not happen.
I need to thank everyone out there that has been so supportive. My family, friends, customers and especially . . . . my husband and my kids.
The cookbook will still be written. . . . That was why I really wanted to do the show . . . . for the cookbook publishing deal. Many of my current recipe's revolve around what is available seasonally and locally from our farm and others nearby. I love seafood dishes and what is available around Cobscook Bay is some of the most pristine and best tasting seafood in the world.
I am hoping to write my cookbook on my own over the spring, summer and fall with lots of photo's of the farm and animals. I need to find a publisher and a "book coach":) This will be written like a diary with all of my recipe's covering what is available seasonally at Kilby Ridge Farm along with other farms nearby and food from the sea.
I can speculate about the reasons that I did not make MasterChef but think I was either too normal . . . . or cooked outside the box too much. After all . . . . I cook mostly on my 1937 Home Comfort wood cook stove in my 200 year old kitchen. Mark also bought me a Sous Vide machine for Christmas (see earlier post) and it has been been turning all of our meats and vegetables into five star meals lately . . . . . also found a new use for my machine. It is great for heating up milk to precise temperatures so you can make "perfect" cheese.
All for now . . . . thanks again, everyone!
Buy local . . . . eat well . . . . .
